Marcus Sorg was the first. At the end of December 2011 he became the first coach ever sacked by SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga. In Freiburg that counted as something close to a sensation.\n\nThe bottom club discovered that internal promotions do not always lead to success.
Even so, the club once again turned inward and promoted Sorg’s assistant. Sorg’s bad luck, Freiburg’s good fortune: the assistant was Christian Streich.
